KGVK focus is ensuring well-being of the families through high quality, easily accessible health care services for mothers and children, well-being of adolescent girls and preventions of malaria, diarrhea and malnutrition, availability of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities in the villages.

Strengthening Village health, Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) through introduction of effective monitoring tool, Supportive supervision and Counselling. Formation of adolescent girls group and orienting them on various health issues.

To improve the health status, nutritional uptake and Sanitation, KGVK partnered with different organizations to implement projects in rural Jharkhand. Some of the projects implemented were: ‘Low birth weight’ project in Ranchi funded by ICICI Bank Foundation, RISHTA project funded by PACKARD Foundation, Bridges Beyond Boundaries project funded by KGVK-UK and research on malaria under Malaria Evolution in South Asia project funded by University of Washington were completed under this pillar. 81% institutional delivery and 86% of community availed immunization services were achieved in KGVK operational area.

KGVK’s 24x7 Rural Hospital services for Rural Communities:

KGVK’s Shalini Hospitals Network, at village Rukka (Ormanjhi Block) and village Narayan Soso( Angarha block) of Ranchi district, 25 bedded each, is well entrenched in the rural communities of Jharkhand, dispensing reliable and cost-effective healthcare.

The two hospitals deliver services ranging from pathological and radiological diagnosis (x-ray, blood tests, including HIV, malaria, etc.), to eye care, dentistry, general surgeries, and Caesarean delivery. Transport facilities enable rural communities from Kanke, Ormanjhi, Angara, and Silli blocks to access the hospital and a mobile clinic allows more patients than ever to receive affordable, quality healthcare.

Ayushman Bharat scheme is available in hospital for the BPL patients; free treatment facility to the BPL patients under PMJAY schemes.

Facilities provided by Shalini hospital:
  • OPD- Outpatient department
  • IPD- Inpatient department
  • General Surgeries- All major general surgeries and minor surgeries Gynecological services-LSCS, Hysterectomy, etc.
  • Ophthalmic services- Cataract surgery; hospital conducts cataract surgery on a low-cost basis in collaboration with Sightsavers.

  • Health camps : General health camps and cataract screening camps in identified core beneficiary areas focusing on health screening, cataract screening, and wellness programs.

    Village health services : The hospital with its team of trained health motivators monitors the healthcare service delivery system and provides support wherever required. Sahhiya workers (ASHA workers) are trained and motivated at regular intervals for a proper healthcare service delivery system.

    Combating COVID-19

    KGVK is engaged in providing preventive, promotive and curative health care services to the people of Jharkhand in its area of operation. During Covid 19 pandemic KGVK conducted COVID 19 relief campaign across its intervention villages by distributing dry ration packets to BPL households especially to disabled persons, Widow, Older/Aged persons, Poor families and Migrant Labour to address the issues of hunger and deprivation.

    KGVK is continuing its relief efforts to support poor families and affected individuals and the community with providing ration kits, medicines, face masks and generating awareness around vaccinations because there is huge vaccine hesitancy in rural areas. During this awareness campaign KGVK is conducting Nukkad Natak with appropriate protocol amid state wide lockdown to address this issue through innovative approach about the need and importance of vaccination and preventive measures to be taken such as proper and regular use of mask, social distancing, proper technique to wash hands etc. and also clarified the myths and misinformation regarding vaccination & doubts regarding dosage.

    KGVK team is supporting Govt. health functionaries in the registration process (Registration over COWIN App of govt. of India) to schedule the appointment at the nearby vaccination camp, they also followed up the vaccinated people in 05 days for the update on their health.
